Edmund O. Schweitzer, III

Edmund O. Schweitzer, III (born 1947, Evanston, Illinois), is an electrical engineer, inventor, and founder of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL). He obtained a B.S. and M.S. from Purdue University and a Ph.D. from Washington State University, where his doctoral thesis was on digital protective relays. He is an IEEE Fellow. Schweitzer's father, Edmund O. Schweitzer, Jr., founded E. O. Schweitzer Manufacturing, now a division of SEL. Along with his wife, Beatriz, Schweitzer has donated millions of dollars to various charity and city organizations.
He was awarded IEEE Medal in Power Engineering in 2012.
